Tide of Banners
Tide of Banners is a strategy game with patience built into its bones. You manage a small realm — food, troops, roads, loyalty — while neighbouring lords scheme and occasionally march on you. It plays out in real-ish time but with a sensible pause, so you're never punished for putting the phone down.
The clever part is diplomacy. You can win without a single battle by marrying, bribing and outwaiting your rivals, or go full warlord if that's your mood. The AI lords hold grudges and remember favours, which makes the map feel like it has actual history by the end.
It asks for a bit of reading up front and the early menus are dense, but once it clicks you'll be sketching ten-turn plans in your head. A thinking person's mobile strategy that doesn't nag you with timers.
